Why Computer and cognitive Linguistics?
The program prepares specialists who have the skills of automatic word processing based on knowledge of the principles of formalization and mathematical modeling of natural language.
Specialists in the computer and cognitive linguistics are in high demand on the international and Russian labor markets. Currently, developments in the field of computer and cognitive linguistics are already applied in Natural Language Processing, in the synthesis and recognition of spoken and text, in the analysis of information presented in text form (Text Mining), automatic text abstracting, information retrieval, machine translation of texts, control system knowledge, expert systems.
At the same time, a clear lack of specialists with appropriate training is observed in Russia, since a professional working in this field should possess both linguistic knowledge and IT knowledge - understanding of the general principles of working with the corresponding software, the ability to develop new approaches, to master the skills programming.

One of the areas of activity is the creation of texts corpus and electronic dictionaries of Ural-Altaic languages.

Associate Professor of the Department of Probability Theory and Mathematical Statistics, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Applied Mathematics and Cybernetics in International Relations.
Research interests: applied statistics, random process theory, sequential analysis, fault detection procedures.
Zoya I. Rezanova

Scientific activity
All Students are involved in the implementation of specific projects of the grant program, gaining the skills of experimental psycholinguistic and cognitive research.
Project 1
Creation of a psycholinguistic database (Russian-Shor, Russian-Tatar, Russian-Khakass bilingualism)
Project 2
Experimental studies of bilingualism problems
Project 3
Research of mutually-determined relations of language and thinking.
In order to fulfill this project, students can solve research problems on the basis of the Laboratory of Cognitive Studies of the Language, created with the grant of the Medeleev Fund of TSU.
Project 4
Analysis of corporate verbal communication practices in terms of their effectiveness. Students have the opportunity to acquire skills of interdisciplinary research and practical activities on the basis of acquiring linguistic competencies and the electronic processing Linguistic data.
Project 5
Creation of corpuses and electronic dictionaries of Southern Siberia idioms: translation, glossing and marking in ELAN
Project 6
Creation of the body of bilingual texts (Russian-Shor, Russian-Tatar, Russian-Khakass bilingualism)
